Saving Money on Your Car at Costco

We all know and love Costco for its bulk buying and massive savings, but did you know you can also save some money on your car at Costco as well? You can save money on things like gas and oil changes to buying parts to even buying the car itself.

If you’re a Costco fanatic who is in the market for a car, here are a few ways you can save some money in that process:

  1. Gas. You can buy gas at a lot of Costco stores, and it even often has lower prices than most other gas stations and shops. Make sure to compare prices at other shops and gas stations, but usually Costco is about 10 cents cheaper than other places.
  2. Insurance. Costco has a partnership with insurance company Ameriprise, offering members a discount on home and auto insurance. Executive members can get more additional benefits like roadside assistance and lifetime policy renewability.
  3. Rental Cars. Costco members can rent a car through its Costco Travel service, which is another member-only benefit that provides discounts and coupons through Alamo, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise. Renting through Costco can waive the fee for an additional driver.
  4. Costco Auto Program. Next time you’re shopping for a new car, you can use the Costco Auto Program to potentially save money on your next car purchase. You can get fixed pricing on new and used cars at about 3,000 dealerships around the country.
  5. Car Repairs. Members of Costco get a 15% discount on parts, labor, and accessories at the more than 3,000 dealerships that have partnerships with Costco. Savings are capped at $500 and don’t apply to tires, airbags, or oil changes.
  6. Car Seats. You can browse Costco stores and buy a car seat, which could sometimes be discounted depending on whatever sales are in place. As with all purchases, you’ll want to make sure that you’re getting the best bang for your buck based on what you’re buying, so always make sure to shop around and compare your prices at other stores and online.
  7. Batteries. Costco members can get a full warranty on their car batteries for between 36 and 42 weeks after the point of purchase. Costco sells Interstate branded batteries that score well in expert testing and often have a solid price point.
  8. Tires. Costco’s sell a ton of different brands of tires that you can easily buy and usually will purchase at a bargain price. You can find Michelin, Bridgestone’s Ecopia, and Dueler brands at most Costcos.
